Everyday in May: My Friend Says I'm Accepting of Others

Today's prompt is "Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)." Since I tend to dwell on negative things people tell me a bit too much, I'm going to focus on something positive.

I was sitting with my firend Nicole once when another friend of hers asked her why we were such good friends after so many years. Her answer was that it is because I don't judge her. She said that I'm one of the few people she feels truly comfortable with because she can just be herself. In fact, the weirder the better, because hey -- it's fun to be weird.

I was actually surprised to hear her say that because I always assumed that most people are like me in that way. Maybe it depends on where you live. Perhaps people in some areas are generally more accepting of others, including quirks.

Either way, it was one of the nicest things anyone -- besides my mother, who thinks I'm an angel -- has ever said to me. I love the fact that I can make someone feel comfortable and relaxed, and free to be themselves without any worries.

  2. There is nothing more comforting than the thought of someone being comfortable around you. Everyone has to put on facades all the time so the chance to be themselves with anyone really helps. Hope your friendship with Nicole continues the way it has till now :-)
